The purpose of Valdosta Prison Ministries, Inc. is built around addressing the spiritual needs of incarcerated people and their families. Valdosta Prison Ministry, Inc. (VPMI) is a not-for-profit corporation, recognized by the IRS under code section 501(c)3, formed to provide financial support for prison ministries in South Georgia, one of which is Kairos Prison Ministry® (see history at www.kairosprisonministry.org or www.kairosofgeorgia.org).

VPMI was incorporated on July 6, 2004. The founders of VPMI, John Struzick and Vic Jameson saw a need is South Georgia for a ministry to incarcerated individuals and their families that was not being met by other existing prison ministries. John and Vic, along with many other volunteers, had been working in prison ministry through the program in Valdosta State Prison for some time and felt there was a missing element to bringing the full message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to residents (inmates) and their families. That element was an on-going consistent volunteer presence inside the prison to support spiritual growth of the residents through personal interaction and programs of worship, study, Christian action, and personal development. While still in its infancy at this writing, VPMI currently supports Christian study programs, Faith & Character based programs involving the residents and their families, computer literacy programs, Christian entertainment programs, and specific needs as they arise.

God willing, the future for VPMI will venture into an in depth out reach to the families of the incarcerated, especially the children. The progression of generational prison time for multiple family members is a tragedy in our society today. Additional areas for ministry currently being considered are development programs in transition centers and aftercare programs. VPMI is continually seeking other avenues to care for people in need resulting from incarceration.

VPMI, has a speakers bureau and ministry team that is ready, on short notice, to present to churches, Sunday school classes, and civic organizations the story of how lives are forever changed through obedience to God's call in ministering to those in prison (Matthew 25:36). To schedule a speaker or ministry program for any organization please contact John (229-588-0733) or Vic (229-740-5234).
